Gastroenterology

Gastroenterology is a branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. Diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract, which includes the organs from mouth to anus, along the alimentary canal, are the focus of this specialty. Transplant Hepatology, Advanced Endoscopy, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), motility. When gastritis is persists in a chronic state, it is associated with several diseases, including atrophic gastritis, pyloric stenosis, and gastric cancer. Another common condition is gastric ulceration. This erodes the gastric mucosa, which protects the tissue of the stomach from the stomach acids. Gastroenterology is not the same as colorectal or hepatobiliary surgery, which are specialty branches of general surgery. Hepatology, or hepatobiliary medicine, encompasses the study of the liver, pancreas, and biliary tree, and is traditionally considered a sub-specialty.

Gastric Diseases 

The inflammation or irritation of the stomach because of the infection is called gastritis, and in other part of the gastrointestinal tract is called gastroenteritis. In simple words disease that related to stomach are the Gastric Diseases. Some of the factors responsible for gastritis are excessive consumption of alcohol or excessive smoking, prolonged anti-inflammatory medication, oily and fried food etc. Some of the generic symptoms in gastritis are pain in the abdomen, vomiting, irritation or bloating of the abdomen, indigestion and loss of appetite.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable Bowel Syndrome or the IBS is a disorder of the digestive system wherein the pateint may feel abdominal pain, mucus and gas while passing stool. The bowel habits of the patients are also altered. The exact causes of IBS are not know and it at any age. The condition can be relieved by making alteration in diet, some medication and educating the patient about the disorder.

Stomach Ulcers or Peptic Ulcers

Stomach ulcers, also called peptic ulsers are any sores in the mucosa of the stomach as a result of the caustic effects of the acid in the lumen. Peptic ulcers are the most common ulcers of the gastrointestinal tract and are extremely painful. The pain worsens on an empty stomach and goes better after eating. Some of the medicines are also known to worsen stomach ulcers like aspirin, ibuprofen etc.

Stomach or Gastric Cancer

Any sort of cancer arising from stomach is called stomach or gastric cancer. Stomach canver has a very high mortality rate because the prognosis is relatively difficult of the absence of any specific symptoms. The symptoms are very generic and could be mistaken for the other disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. Some of the generic symptoms are pain and discomfort in the abdomen, indigestion, heartburn sensation or loss of appetite.
